My old, thick, slow, unbelieving mind of flesh…
I noticed when I translate or listen to a sermon, it often happens that when a preacher reads a scripture and comments on it, my first reaction is ‘how did he get that’, or ‘that is not what the Bible says’, and so on.
It doesn’t happen always, but still happens, especially with some of the preachers who really experience major work of God in their life and who witness healing and miracles and demons fleeing.
But these are teachers who traveled the world and seen God’s hand in all the work they do…. so how can I have a better understanding?
How can I say that I know better and understand better and interpret better? He has fruit and I don’t.
Sometimes reading the Bible I see apostle Peter quoting Psalms or apostle Paul quoting Old Testament and I’m like ‘how did he get that, how did he come to that conclusion based on that…’ but its the Bible!
In the Bible a Bible person quoting the Bible and i’m still wondering how he got it….. how deceived I must be, or how thick my fleshly mind is!
I recently really realized that if I keep studying the Bible with my mind, I will not get where I should get even if I have 10 lifetimes! I just wont, because
“… the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV).
My new prayer.
I started praying to God to help me stop studying the Bible and start believing the Bible, discerning spiritually, not with my mind.
Mind is slow and clunky and logical and has limited capacity and low ‘bandwidth’.
Spirit is lightning-fast and probably has unlimited capacity. It’s like God, since God is Spirit.
So I cannot rely on my mind, but only on my spirit, in which Holy Spirit dwells.
I don’t want to fight Bible anymore, I want to embrace Bible, embrace faith. I’m sick of fighting.
